CRISIS
RELIEF FOR MYANMAR - CYCLONE NARGIS
Dear
brothers and sisters in Christ,
Shalom in Jesus Name!
I write to you on behalf of the Diocesan Mission Board (DMB) and
ACROSS (the crisis
relief arm of DMB).
With deep sorrow, the full extent of the devastation of cyclone
Nargis on Myanmar is beginning to be unfold before eyes through
the media as well as news from Archbishop Stephen of the
Province of Myanmar.
After a few days of
non-communication with the Church of the Province of Myanmar, we
finally were able to establish contact yesterday and glad to
hear that Abp Stephen is okay and in fact, he has already
started mobilising church members to start providing relief to
others in the affected areas but he has limited resources to
meet the overwhelming needs.
WE CAN HELP MYANMAR!
I am aware that your church members may be asking how they
can help. For now, financial giving will be the best and most
effective way in supporting the work that Abp Stephen has
started. We will be providing a collection envelop to all the
congregations for a special collection either this Sunday
(earliest) or for next Sunday. However, if members wish to send
cheques now, please advise them to make it out to : The Diocese
of Singapore and write at the back of the cheque
"ACROSS-Myanmar" and given it to your church office. We will be
grateful if you could collate the collections and return same to
the Diocesan office.

WE CAN ALSO HELP IN OTHER WAYS
ACROSS is monitoring the situation as well as gathering
relevant feedback from the ground to ascertain how we can
augment the Church of the Province of Myanmar. Medical personnel
may be required. We will keep all of you posted in the best way
possible.
Thank you for your support and prayer! May God's people in every
nation, including Myanmar, rise up to be powerful witness in
prayer, in encouragement and in deeds.
Maranatha!
