Prison Fellowship
A bruised reed he will not break… Isaiah 42:3
This marvelous but undermanned ministry caters to the
spiritual needs of those in prison who often lack purpose
in life and are rejected by society. Visits are made on
weekends by our team to minister to those in prison. Many
have come to know Christ through the love and care that
shines from our dedicated volunteers . We would also like
to minister to the frequently neglected families of the
prisoners.
Requirements: 18 years old and above, mature Christian,
preferably bilingual and without a criminal record (for
purposes of permit application)
Time required: 1 weekend chapel service a month, once a
month visit to the families
C.I.T.Y. Community
Services
Character In The Young is a community service of St.
Andrew’s Cathedral. It is an outreach project to certain
schools and provides tuition to needy children, visits to
the children at home, organizing excursions, running craft
workshops & enrichment programmes and simply just being a
friend to children who are in need of love and a caring
mentor. It is a marvellous way of extending an arm in
Christian love by providing practical assistance to needy
children.
S.A.C.H. is a community service by the St. Andrew’s
Mission Hospital, a non-profit voluntary welfare
organization set up in 1913. SACH was established in 1992
and aims to provide affordable sub-acute and intermediate
care for the community (mainly the elderly).
You can support their work by joining the SAMH Befrienders’
programme providing love and fellowship to the clients.
Training will be provided at intervals throughout the year
(the next is due in the first quarter of 2007). To
volunteer or obtain more information, please contact
Pastor Richard Woo who is the Befriender co-ordinator at
97673288 or e-mail

Simei Care Centre (SCC)
Simei Care Centre (SCC) is a rehabilitation centre that
caters to the needs of persons who have recovered from
psychiatric illness. While their psychiatric
conditions are stable, they still do need a lot of
care and concern from others to help them integrate
back into society. As a church, we can make a
difference in their lives by contributing in service
in the ways mentioned below.
Requirements: Volunteers have to undergo a 3-hour training
session to prepare for service at SCC. The training will
introduce the services, basic mental illness knowledge and
skills of handling. You may help to teach art & craft,
befriending, worship, teaching musical instrument or folk
dancing amongst many other activities.
Time required: Depending on the volunteer’s availability.
It can vary from once a week to once a month on a regular
basis.
Caring Ministry
“ Then the king will say to those at his right hand ‘for I
was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you
gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was
naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me…as
you did to one of the least of these my brethren, you did
it to me’.” Matthew 25:34-40
In the above verses, Jesus encourages us to show care for
those who are in need as when we do so, we are showing
love to Him. It is thus important that as a church
community bound together in the love of Christ, that we
share this grace and love with people who may need that
caring hand .
The Caring Ministry serves to walk together with members
of the body of Christ who are going through difficult
times in their lives, for example sickness and
bereavement, through visitation and prayer support.
Through this, they will continue to experience the touch
of Christ, giving them the strength to continue putting
their trust in Him regardless of the circumstances around
them.
