Course Synopsis:
(This course was held over two Thursdays [23 Aug and 30 Aug 2007])
What is the Gospel? This question is of the utmost importance not just to Christians but also to every human being. It is made urgent because of the recent hyped media events, which suggest that the Gospel as the Christian Church now proclaims it is actually just a variant of many other Gospels that were later suppressed by church politics in the 4th century.

The talks on ‘The Gospel: True and False’ are designed to tackle this question. The first talk will examine what the Gospel is, as it is presented in the New Testament, and understood against the backdrop of the Old Testament. This will enable us to have a grasp of the total biblical witness to the Gospel. The second talk will look at some so-called Gospels that were proliferated in the second and third centuries as alternatives and challenges to the Gospel of the total biblical witness. Current concerns generated by recent publications and claims will also be briefly examined. It is hoped that through these talks, we will get a fresh and better understanding of what God has promised to do, and is doing, to our troubled world.
