Nations are in turmoil; families are in constant conflict;
quarrels among God’s people almost split the Church. These are
some of the problems facing the Church in Corinth leading the
Apostle Paul to write to the problematic Church. His chief concern
was to teach and encourage harmony among God’s people.
In
the two Lenten messages, we shall learn the way to peace which
Paul taught the early believers: the message of the cross, the
wisdom of God, which says, in essence, “I am here for you.” The
message of the cross is something which we personally need to be
reminded of. It is also relevant to both the local and global
Church context.
About the Speaker
Rev Dr Michael
Shen was born in China. He grew up in Hong Kong and Sabah,
Malaysia. In his youth he believed in Jesus Christ and consecrated
his life to serving Him. He received theological training in
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Dallas Theological
Seminary, where he completed his PhD in Bible Exposition in 2003.
He has been serving in Singapore Bible College since 1978, and as
Principal (1992-2006). He also serves on the boards of CCCOWE,
CNEC, and OMF. His mission is to glorify God by training faithful
servants of Jesus Christ for the edification of the Church and the
urgent evangelization of the unreached.
