IMPORTANT UPDATE ON CAR PARKING IN ST ANDREW'S
CATHEDRAL
In response to
feedback and to perceived needs, the Car Park
Subcommittee, FPC is pleased to announce the
following revised rates and policies which will
benefit, amongst others, Cathedral volunteers as
well as non-member attendees of SAC Christian
Education classes and evening services.
There will be a further review at the end of 3
months. The policies and rates below are effective
from Friday 18th Nov 2011. Until
that date, there will be no charge for the use of
the car-park. The revised rates will be reflected
in the new signboards.
1. Members’ weekday
rates (Mon-Sat) : Free parking for 3 hours
followed by 2 cents per minute for the first 2
hours and subsequently 4 cents per minute. This is
meant to benefit volunteers who have work to do in
the Cathedral. Members are not to use the
Cathedral grounds for casual parking on weekdays.
This privilege is for a single-entry only.
Subsequent entries by the same vehicle will not be
entitled to this grace period. 2. Volunteers at
the Welcome Centre will be provided with
complimentary passes. 3. Non-member parking
rates on all days remain unchanged at $7 per hour
or part thereof. Bona fide visitors will be given
complimentary passes. 4. After 7pm on all days
(including Sundays), there will be a per-entry
charge of $4 for non-members. Please note that a
non-member who enters before 7pm will be subject
to the hourly rates in addition to the per-entry
charge. 5. The members’ rates on Sunday will
remain unchanged - 2 cents per minute for the
first 2 hours and subsequently 4 cents per minute.
6. Wedding/funeral groups will be accorded 20
complimentary passes with an option to purchase a
further 20 passes at subsidized rates. 7. Rules
on parking remain unchanged – parking is only
permitted on designated lots. 8. Ministry
leaders should anticipate the need for
complimentary passes and request them from the GM,
Kenneth Ng at least 4 days in advance. 8.
The East Lawn will be opened for use from the 30th
of November onwards. It will only be in use on
Sundays and on specified Diocesan/Cathedral mass
events.
The traffic flow within the East
Lawn is as detailed below. Kindly observe this
flow. Parking lots are designated by unobtrusive
stone markers inset in the grass. No arrows will
be painted on the grass. The idea is that, as far
as possible, the East Lawn must look like a lawn
and not like a carpark.A verger/warden will be
on-hand in the early period to assist. An LED
display will indicate the number of lots available
in the East Lawn. Parking within the Cathedral
grounds will be at the owner’s risk.
